The whole course is delivered via the Internet.

Please note that there are mandatory chat sessions every Monday from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. You need to log into the FGCU e-learning system to take part in those chat sessions.

 

The first chat session is on September 6, 2004.

Grading

 

The final grade will be determined by your performance in

-       participation - your average score in all chat sessions (30 %).

-       homework assignments (30 %), and

-       one exam (40 %),

 

For the homework assignments and the exam, the following grades are given.

With regard to the chat sessions, you may receive between 0 (not present) and 4 (excellent contributions) points per chat.

 

According to the grade weights as outlined above (40 / 30 / 30 %), the final grade will be determined using the following formula:

 

Final Score = (Exam_Grade*4 + Homework_Average*3 + Chat_Average*3)/10

 

The final score will be transformed into the final grade using the following table:

Attendance Policy

 

This is a graduate course. Thus, your participation and contributions are extremely important, because we will all learn from each other during the course.

Please make sure that you can attend the chat sessions. You can access the chat system from any computer connected to the Internet.

Homework

 

Please click on the Lessons tab in the e-learning system to read the homework assignments.

 

To give you a maximum of flexibility, the homework is due in two big portions. You can thus prepare them at a time of your choice, according to your other duties.

 

Important note: Submit all of your work not later than indicated below in ONE e-mail with attachments. Do not send parts of your homework in advance!.

Exam

 

The exam task description will be available on November 15, 2004. You must submit your solution by November 29, 2004.
