Technology Orientation

Everyone should be familiar with online courses since GEY 5005 is a prerequisite. Just to reconnect you with the online world please complete the following during the first week of the course:

1. I have emailed you the URL for the Science of Aging course. Please send me an email to confirm that you received it and that you were able to access the web site.
2. Create a Word document telling me about yourself. I want you know your professional background, degrees you hold or are working on, where you work, and why you are studying gerontology. Please send me your contact information in this document: mailing address, phone numbers, preferred email address, etc.
3. Find an online news story related to aging and science. Post the URL and a short summary of the story on the WebBoard. Post another message to tell your classmates about yourself or just post the Word document that you sent to the instructor in #2 above.
4. Reply to at least one other student's posted message.

General orientation and support tutorials can be found at FGCU's Support Site.

Web Board Orientation
Electronic bulletin or message boards are simply computerized versions of the cork bulletin boards with which we're all familiar. Just as with traditional message boards, users of electronic bulletin boards may post new messages, read others' messages, and respond to others' messages.

WebBoard will be used in class for electronic discussions. Students are required to participate in class electronic discussions. In other words, they are required to post messages and reply to messages on the bulletin board. You are also required to post your weekly unit assignments on the bulletin board by 9am each Monday morning.

If you need a general orientation to this bulletin board, use FGCU's Web Board tutorial or simply access the Web Board by using clicking on Science of Aging Web Board or by clicking on the WebBoard button at the left of your screen.
