Intro to Aging in Other Species

1. Why would scientists use a comparative approach in the study of aging? 2. What plant or animal would you choose to be based on your readings? Why? 3. Are there organisms that do not age? Explain in a complete answer. 4. What is the relationship between reproduction and lifespan? 5 . In the study of Rotifers how are the offspring of young parents different from the offspring of older parents? 6. What did the Lansing and Lint studies tell us about reproduction? 7 . What do enzymes have to do with the aging process? Give examples. 8 . Discuss two findings that have emerged from the study of Drosophilia; include implications for human aging. 9 . Explain what brain weight, body weight, and metabolism have to do with life span. 10 . Write your own comment or question about the readings in terms of your day-to-day life.
