Medications & Aging

Aging and Pharmacology 1.) Older adults are the major consumers of both over the counter and prescription medications. The older the individual is, the more complex they become in terms of medications. Describe the factors that make this true: Absorbtion: Distribution: Metabolism: Excretion: Tissue Sensitivity: 2.) Describe some new methods of drug delivery that have been developed in the past few years to help with the effects of aging changes on pharmocology. 3.) What are some of the compliance issues related to medications and the elderly and some strategies to improve compliance: Compliance Issue: Possible strategy to improve compliance:         4) What is polypharmacy and why is it such a major problem in this country? (Give real life examples)
