Module 1: Technology Orientation for Distance Learning

There are no lecture notes for this first module. I encourage you to review the technology module and go through each exercise if you have never had an internet course before. If you have, you can elect not to do the module. You must get my approval to waive the first module. Either way, you should have mastered the following module objectives before proceeding to module #2. Good luck and have a great semester! Let me know if you have any questions.

The following objectives should be met by the end of this first session.

1. Create a Word document.
2. Find a Web site about a given topic.
3. Send an email with/without an attachment to the instructor.
4. Post a message to the class distribution list.
5. Reply to the message from the instructor.
6. Finish Technology Skills online survey.
7. Send a paragraph stating the reasons for taking this course to the instructor from the class Web site.
8. Post a message on the bulletin board.
9. Reply to a posting on the bulletin board.
10. Use on-line library catalogue and search other on-line databases for publications.
11. Retrieve electronic class reserves.
12. Based on the online survey result, make a learning plan if necessary.
