TOPICS FOR MODULE 2

 Review the management model for HSOs found on page 17 (figure 1.6) of your readings in Managing health Services Organizations by Rakich, Longest, and Darr. Answer the following questions for webboard discussion.

1. Why is the input-conversion-output model used in the graphical model of HSOs? What is the catalyst in this model and how does it work?
2. Two external environments and the forces that affect HSOs are show in the model. How do these forces affect HSOs? Name at least two other forces not listed in the model. Try not to duplicate those provided by your classmates.
3. State one thing from the model you find interesting or unusual in it's relationship to an HSO.

Once you have gathered your thoughts, please post your response on the bulletin board prior to 5pm on Friday, May 19th. Also, you are responsible for responding to the postings of other students. All students must participate in the student webboard discussion for the week before the deadline to receive credit for participation. This will make it necessary for you to visit the bulletin board several times during the course of the week. Your participation grade will depend on the quality of your initial responses as well as your interaction and responses to the postings made by other students. Remember there is opportunity for extra credit points, but you must not only answer the topic questions, but provide added insight based on additional review of topic.
