Is writing promote children's thinking? How? Why?

Children's various forms of writing (e.g., scribbling, creative writing, intentional writing, writing with drawing, emergent writing etc.) are cognitively differ from oral expressions (e.g., oral speech, oral communication, or simply sound making). It represent a higher (or a different) level of thinking, because.... What is YOUR theory on "Writing promotes thinking?"

It, at least, because;

• Writing makes thinking more explicit
• Writing makes thinking and the use of symbolic representation more deliberate
• Writing makes the child aware of the element of language as well as contexts
• Writing, in an intentional writing, require children first to activate relevant information in long-term memory. In any cases, this is difficult as well as different because the topics are one that children never ordinarily think about (e.g., What I know about birds?). Under such conditions, they must pull together materials from diverse parts of their memory and generate an organization for thinking about them.
