Session 1

Welcome to Environmental Psychology on the Internet.

You will meet in a computer lab for the first session of class for the first week of class. After this session you will be doing this course on-line. In every session you will be introduced to a topic in environmental psychology and will be assigned chapter/chapters to read from your text for that session. You also may be asked to read other readings for some of these sessions.  We will meet on Thursday, January 16, 2003 from 10:00 - 11:00 in WH 131.

After each chapter you will be responsible for

  1. Essays from the text: DO NOT E-MAIL THESE TO INSTRUCTOR. Maintain hard copies and submit these before the first exam to the instructor by mail or deliver these to the instructor's mailbox.
  2. Activities: For each session you will be asked to perform some activities. You will have to give your feedback for each of these activities in ONE PARAGRAPH OR LESS by e-mail to your instructor.

3. Self-test: There is also a self-test for each session and there are sample questions with answers for the topics assigned. These will be good practice questions for your midterm and final exam.

Assignments for the first day in the computer will be

  1. To create a word document
  2. Find a web site in psychology
  3. Send an e-mail with/without an attachment of the instructor
  4. Reply to a posting on the bulletin board regarding reasons for taking this course. This bulletin board will be the main medium for all discussion groups
  5. Post a message on the bulletin board for other students.

If you are unable to attend the first lab session on January 14, you can still do your first assignment with some help from the computer lab. If you still have questions call 590-7100, which is the help desk, to complete your assignment.

All assignments are due by January 18th.
