Capillaria hepatica. Eggs in rat liver (hematoxylin and eosin stain, low power). In their natural rodent hosts, as well as in humans, adult worms live in the liver parenchyma and deposit their eggs directly in the tissues. Their characteristic morphologic features are evident even in histologic sections.
