Trichuris trichiura. Fertile egg in Kato/Katz fecal smear (unstained, high power). In a Kato/Katz preparation, the egg retains its characteristic morphological features although the clearing process has rendered the polar prominences less well demarcated; in addition, the flattening process used in the Kato/Katz technique has resulted in broadening of the width of the egg.
