Trypanosoma cruzi

Trypanosoma cruzi. Trypomastigotes in thin blood smear (Giemsa's stain, oil immersion). Two typical trypomastigotes are seen in this blood smear prepared. from an experimentally infected mouse. Both the slender and stumpy (the characteristic C-shaped) forms are seen. The slender forms are usually associated with acute infection, whereas the organisms in chronic infections typically assume a C shape in stained smears.
