Strongyloides stercoralis
Strongyloides stercoralis. First-stage
(rhabditoid) larva (iodine stain, high power). This rhabditoid stage larva is
the diagnostic stage for strongyloidiasis. The larva measures 180 to 380 mm
by 14 to 20 mm. It has a short, tubular, buccal canal. The genital primordium
is a permanent and characteristic feature; it lies between the midpoint of the
intestine and the ventral body wall.
