Schistosoma mansoni. Egg in fecal smear (unstained, low power). Although the egg of S. mansoni has a prominent lateral spine, in some coverslip preparations the lateral spine occasionally will be hidden from view, as seen here. Light tapping on the coverslip usually will reorient the egg and expose the spine.
