Pneumocystis carinii. Cysts in human lung tissue (Gomori's methenamine silver and hematoxylin and eosin stains, oil immersion). The black-staining cysts of Pneumocystis are clearly seen in this field. Neither intracystic bodies nor trophozoites are visible with this staining procedure.
