Arachnids

Sarcoptes scabei. Egg in fecal smear (unstained, low power). Eggs of this mite are large, ovoid, thin-shelled, and transparent and measure 150 µm long by 100 µm wide. Occasionally, when seen in feces, they might be confused with trichostrongyle or hookworm eggs by an inexperienced microscopist, if it were not for their much larger size.
