Mansonella spp.

Mansonella streptocerca. Microfilaria teased from skin snip (hematoxylin stain, high power). This microfilaria is of moderate size. It is long and slender, lacks a sheath, and has a column of nuclei that extends to the posterior end of the body. The tail is characteristically bent in the shape of a shepherd's crook. Note that in the anterior end the column of nuclei begins as a single row of nine or ten nuclei. In the posterior end, the nuclei form a single row that extends to the tip of the tail.
