Diphyllobothrium latum

Diphyllobothrium latum. Adult worm (unstained, macrophotograph). A large portion of the strobila of one D. latum tapeworm is seen in this field. The small scolex lies on the black rectangle of paper toward the bottom of the picture. This tapeworm may measure from 4 to 10 m in length. The rosette-shaped uterus lies in the middle of the mature proglottids with its terminus near the genital pore. It can be seen in the living (as here) as well as in preserved specimens.
