Carl Pacini is associate professor of accounting and business law at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he teaches auditing, international accounting and business law courses. He received his Ph.D. in accounting from Florida State University in 1997 and his law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1979. He is a Florida CPA, a Certified Financial Services Auditor and a member of the Florida Bar. He has worked as a practicing attorney, internal compliance auditor and vice president of real estate lending in the banking industry in Central Florida. He has published over 40 articles in various academic and practitioner journals including the Journal of Forensic Accounting, Journal of Accountancy, The CPA Journal, Internal Auditing, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Abacus, Journal of Management Information Systems, Advances in Accounting, and the American Business Law Journal.

In a recent study of publications by accounting faculty, Dr. Pacini was named a "prolific author" of accounting literature. The paper examines 40 accounting and related journals for the years 1967-2001 and lists the top 10 researchers for each year (by year of Ph.D. graduation). For determining the productivity of faculty research, the database uses three factors to rank the top 10 accounting authors for their given doctoral graduation year: the number of articles published in selected journals by each person, the number of articles adjusted for co-authorship, and a combined assessment of the quantity of articles of co-authorship and the quality of the journal publishing the article.
