Goal - Produce project management documents, detailed design documents, and implementation demonstration of a real world project of your choice.
Teams - Work in groups of 3 (min) or 4 (max).
Project Selection - Choose a "real" project from a local industry (could be the company you are working for, hospitals, academic/administrative departments at FGCU, or local companies). Care should be exercised before deciding to take on a project. You may have to talk to several people in the organization that you would like to use before you make your final project selection. For examples of past projects, see: http://ruby.fgcu.edu/courses/mpenderg/CapstoneProjects/index.html
Contact the instructor if you need ideas: cbeise@fgcu.edu

- Overview of client organization and business goals of system
- Statement of scope
- List of functional requirements (i.e., what the system will do for the client when complete) - agreed upon by client and team
- Project plan and milestones
- Pert/Gantt charts
- Risk management plan
- Change management plan
By the end of the semester, the Web site should also contain (either as HTML or links to documents):
Analysis Documents (due Mar. 8)
- System Level DFD (context, level 0, and level 1)
- System Level ERD diagrams
- Logical database design (tables, attributes, relationships)
- Cost estimation
Detailed Design Documents (due Mar. 20)
- Structure charts, UML, use cases, or equivalent design diagrams
- User interface and dialog designs (input screens, output screens, report design, dialog design diagram)
- Physical database design and data dictionary
- Backup and security recommended procedures
Implementation Documents (due Apr. 24)
- Test procedures (module level, system level, acceptance testing)
- Installation and operation plans (installation, training, and maintenance)
Working System (due Apr. 29)
- This includes all database, source code, web pages, applets, and scripts.
Presentation (Apr. 24)
- Present your analysis, design, and working system to your peers, CIS faculty, and project sponsor at the end of the semester.
Grading :
Do a good job on this! Local employers will be visiting your site. The quality of your work and the manner in which it is presented directly reflects on you, the CIS department, and FGCU.
