On completion of this course you will be able to:

1. Describe appropriate content objectives for high school mathematics.

2. Describe current reform movements in mathematics education at the high school level.

3. Discuss constructivist teaching/learning philosophy.

4. Develop quality lessons for high school students.

5. Describe how calculator and computer applications are implemented in a high school mathematics class.

6. List professional organizations, meetings, and journals. Join NCTM. Attend NCTM, FCTM, LCCTM meetings, if possible.

7. List resources on the Internet.

8. Discuss relavent research related to high school mathematics teaching/learning.

9. Describe how to provide for diverse students in your classroom.

10. Work through three Creative Mathematics Projects designed by Dr. Engel..

11. Design three Creative Mathematics Projects using the same format as those designed by Dr. Engel.

12. Describe how to implement Career to Work ideas in a high school classroom.

13. Discuss alternate forms of assessment.

14. Describe NCTM Standards and the Sunshine State Standards in mathematics.

15. Develop a quality Unit Plan of about one week.
