D. Deeply palpate in the left upper quadrant, under the left costal margin.
To palpate the spleen you will place your dominate hand under the left costal margin and ask client to exhale while moving hand under the costal margin. Your non dominate hand is placed under the client’s back for support. Once the hand is in position you will ask client to take a deep breath to feel for the spleen. A normal spleen is non palpable.
