The Summary Table: (Note)
- In any design there can only be so many df (total df).
- There can be only one value for total sum of squares
- All independent sum of squares must add to total SS
- This provides a computational check.
- Variance estimates (MS), do not add to total because they contain estimates of the same components of the total variance.
