Module 3
Applications in the classroom

On the first day of school, take care to make it easy and fun. This will decrease fear which may otherwise become inexorably paired with school.

Also, teachers need to be cautious to avoid inadvertently pairing items that do not belong together, or do not promote learning. One good example is math and tests. Tests, for many students, are very connected to anxiety and fear (based on past pairings of failure or disappointment). Because math assessment traditionally relies on tests, math becomes a fear provoking stimulus.
Are there alternative
approaches that you can think of that will not evoke
anxiety, and may increase your student's math
        performance?
