: When my Dad was in the hospital in October, he was on alot of meds. The nurse told him not to get up to go to the bathroom because the medications were making him dizzy. He felt strongly that he had to stand up to go to the bathroom so he kept standing near the side of the bed and urinating in the bottle they gave him. Well I guess his monitors kept going off and the nurse got mad and put a foley on him against his wishes and without a doctors orders. His doctor was mad as was he. I guess it was mostly embarrassing for him. Is it within a nurses responsibility to cathetirize a pt against his will?
I'm not a nurse, but it is the patients right to refuse care ot treatment.
