: Generally, I think most physicians do take these oaths seriously. I think what happens is that the idealistic oaths will sometimes clash with the "real" world which can cause disillusionment and disbelief in the oath they took.
I agree with what Jonathan stated about the physicians. I find that the new M.D.'s have a difficlt time letting nature and the higher power decide a persons outcome.
