1. The Code of Ethics developed for Radiologic Technologists were written to
support the Mission Statement of the profession. The Mission Statement lists three basic
statements including upholding standards for education preparation, exams to assess
knowledge and skills, and upholding professional behavior. Included in the Code of Ethics
are "conducting oneself in a professional manner and practicing ethical conduct", and
providing services and patient care with respect and without any discrimination while
respecting the patient's right to privacy". It also mentions making a diagnosis is
unexcepted in definition of accepted practice, and the R.T. must strive to gain knowledge
and skills.
2. The Hippocratic Oath has changed to physicians not necessarily being held
responsible for their actions, a change in thought in regards to euthanasia and abortion.
The Oath declare reliance on God's guidance to a much lesser degree and barely mentions
abstaining from sex with patients.
