1.One of the best advances in health care technology is laser surgery to repair stigmatism of the eyes so that people no longer have to wear glasses. Also, is a machine called the BVS 5000, it is a biventricular assist device used to rest the heart of people awaitng transplant surgery.
2.I don't believe the FDA should regulate duplication of products, this allows the purchasers of equipment to assess the various products and negoiate better pricing because there are similar products. This forces competition between vendors, the end result is lower pricing to the facility which in turn allows the facility to keep pricing down for the consumer.
3. I would personally be willing to pay more to have the latest technology at my local hospital being used by the physicians I know and trust vs. going to a regional center for less with physicians I know nothing about. I think alot of has to da with the trust level you have with your physicians and also family support. It would be an aded stressor to have to go out of town for treatment. That could be more costly than staying at home and paying more for the procedure.
