Career Advancement and Strategies--

Question #1. My decision was influenced by the many different modalities and specialities that I could advance into once I graduated from school.

Also, working with people was a very important influence for me to choose Radiology. I have always been a people person, so this was

a terrific field to go into.

The only counselling that I had was trying to initially choose between the medical field and the teaching field. My high school counselor
advised me that I would have to go to college for at least six years to achieve a Masters' degree. I could not afford to go for that long,
and at this time in 1981, teachers were not in high demand in my community.

Question #2 I definitely see myself in this field for at least twenty more years. Why, I love what I do everyday at work and I am glad that I chose this field.

The field of Radiology is always coming up with new technology, and it id fascinating how far this field has come in 100 years.

Qusetion #3 Yes, I agree with the percentages of unsatisfied employees. Employees are not putting up with the problems that they once were. They have more options available
to them and they utilizing them to their advantage.

Reasons for job satisfaction-- Listening to the patient when they tell you that I made a difference in their lives while they were in my department.
Also, my co-workers are all highly trained individuals who support each other and help each other with difficult cases. We have a special chemistry and
teamwork that is lacking on the other shifts in my opinion.

Reasons for job dissastisfaction-- Not being able to offer suggestions on how to improve the current system, the employer cutting peformance bonuses completely out, limited amount of money for raises
greatly reduced staffing levels, even though we are still very busy when compared to the same time last year. Also, no new equipment to improve image quality.
