1. It is very hard to choose one of the five applicant, because how could anyone choose one human
life over another, but in this situation i would choose the 44 years old, widowed with 2 children; not
because of her individual ability but reason being concern with her two children. All the other
applicant only mention themself. To my opinion is that i'm chosing three life instead of one.
2. The problem presented to the student is lying to the patient and going against the patience will. The
three option in reaching a decision would be (1) Do what the supervisor ask (2)goes against the
supervisor (3) explain to mrs. Johnson and see if she would change her mind. The implications or
consequences of this situation is that lying to Mrs. Johnson by not stated that he/she is a student
could put his/her career and the organization in jeopardy if during the treatment anything would of
went wrong. If i was approach such this situation i would refuse the supervisor idea and explain the
truth to Mrs. Johnson.
3. Using the Gert and Sullivan criteria, whether a paternalistic lie is justified, In this case i think it is.
Lying in this situation is only bring good to the woman rather then harm, if they would told her that
her husband is death and didn't wait to see her for the last time, she probably have a heart attack and
goes right along with him. If I was in this situation I would the the same.
