: : : What is your definition of the good samaritan law?
: : We all talk about emergencies that happen outside the workplace. What would happen if someine were to drop inside the hospital and we performed incorrect CPR and fractured ribs. Since we were inside the confines of our professional workplace on duty, could we be sued for injury then?
: Good question. I would ask is it a patient or a visitor? If it is a patient maybe however with the age of our patients it
: is not uncommon to fracture ribs away from the sternum with the first few compressions. If it is a visitor who drops in the lobby
: they are outside of the patient care areas maybe maybe not
What is more vital, fractured ribs which usually heal, or a man that could die from cardiac arrest?
Anyone in the medical field should be willing to help whenever it is needed. We should not ask if the
person who needs help if he/she is a visitor or a patient? To me it does not matter, I have been trained to help everyone and anyone
who needs my help, and i will continue to do just that without any hesitation.
