1. the good samaritan law protects healthcare workers from being sued by the
injured party if they have voluntarily stopped and offered help. An example of this would
be if I stopped and performed CPR on someone who had a heart attack and in the process fractured his ribs
I could not be sued for that. However, if you perform procedures that you have not been trained to do then you could be at risk.
2. I could not find anything prohibiting professional courtesy. I beleive the bylaws at my hospital talk about it though and to what extent
that courtesy can be extended.
