: : : : : : Should the cost for mandated continuing education be who's responsibility the employer or the health care professional?
: : : : : It would be nice to have at least part of the CEU's covered by the employer, but it's not too often possible anymore. Maybe the employer could allot a certain amount of funds to each department for an "education fund" Perhaps it could be used to bring in a speaker, or something. It would have to shared equally by the employees though in order to be fair to everyone. For now, I know it's my responsibility to get my "points" regardless of who pays for them.
: : : : Marilyn, I take a different tack on this issue. I think it is totally my responsibility to get my ceu's. Now, I think it is wonderful that my employer helps to pay for this and I appreciate it. But, this isn't a right that I have to expect. It is a benefit that can be taken away at any time.
: : : I think you're luckier than some, our education fund or reimbursement was cut out years ago. Interesting, and we work for the same institution.
: : Not everyone is getting money. It depends if there is value to the organization.
: Good point!I guess get it while you can.
yes, but I want to emphasize that if the organization completely decided not to pay that would be o.k. It isn't their responsibility to maintain my license and education. It is mine.
