1. I think that the employer should be responsible for the cost of CE. Since it gives employees an added benefit to the job and in return employee are more motivated to learn and provide better knowledge to patients regarding to their need in the health care, which in the long run, patients will come back for this service and the company will profit.
2. I would prefer to participate in home CE which you receive magazine in your field and you can pick and choose what you are interested in. This will cut cost in travel expenses and time that it takes to travel and attend the seminars. It is very hard to attend CE programs if you have children, which you will have to find a sitter, etc. Furthermore, if it is a CE program where the audience participate and ask questions. It can be very time consuming, magazine with CE has an outline format which get to the point and does not take as long to do.
3. Mandatory- It will help keep professional update with what's going on in the field and broader their knowledge especially if you have been out of school for a very long time. Maintaining competency is very important not only for personal reason but it is important for the consumer who relies on the profession and for his/her knowledge.
