1. I think tha tthe cost of education should be a shared responsibilty of
both the employer and employee. There are some certifications that are required to
work in specific areas and those are paid by the employer (ie ACLS), I think that the CEU's
required to maintain your license should be the employees responsibilty.
2. It is very difficut with the changes in health care for institutions to send employees
to conferences out of state. Hoowever, alot of times that is the only way to get the most
current information to be effective in your role. We now have limited resources and we pick the
best conferences and the best person to go and bring back the knowledge to share with the rest of us.
I usually attend one major conference a year and then obtain the 1-2 hour CEU's tho get my 24'.
3. I believe CEU's should be mandatory however I think there should be a national standard set for nursing, P.T., etc.
this would make it easier for people to relocate and would be less confusing for everyone. Why should Florida require
24' and another state not require any. I do however think it is sad that they have to be mandated to ensure that practitioners
stay current in their field because of fear, not of desire to be a better practitioner.
