1. Health care practitioners face many problems in the various
environments that they work in. For acute care, there is increasing
liability for the practitioner as the patient ratios increase in an
effort to reduce cost. Also, with the multitude of changes that are
occurring it is difficult to stay ahead of the changes. For home health
there is the constant problem of safety for the practitioner. The
environments that you have to work in vary dramatically. Long term care
is also very challenging dealing with death daily and trying to find
practitioners that want to work in long term care.
2. I think the push for interdisciplinary teams is a fad, being stressed
by JCAHO. Health care has always been interdisciplinary, just not
documented as such. Nursing is the coordinator of the team that ensures
the treatment plan for the patient is carried out to provide appropriate
patient care.
3. I enjoy the acute care environment an which I practice primary
nursing and coordinate care with the other team members to provide the
most effective and appropriate care to the patient.
