: : : Well, I think that we are all in agreement that the changes are here and they are stressful. I would like to now focus on the interdisciplinary health care teams. Do you belong to one? If not, have you seen one in action and what is your opinion of these teams?

: : Our cardiac cath lab is definitely an interdisplinary team effort. We have nurses, x-ray techs, cardiovascular techs, and a respiratory therapy tech. About half of us carry two liscenses in different fields. We are all cross trained to function in all of the positions to get a procedure done. This means that any one will fulfull the nursing position, x-ray position, sterile scrub position, or hemodynamic monitoring position. There are competency's we must meet, as well as a constant flow of inservices to attend. It is a big benefit for us to operate this way due to ever challenging learning to keep up, and some positions ther is more radiation exposure than others, so it protects our health and well being in the long run.

: Isn't it nice to have everyone help each out. If one doesn't know then the others can help.

It sure is. Never in my wildest dreams when I entered the card cath lab 15 years ago did I think I would be doing or capable of doing the things I do now.
