I work on an interdisciplinary team also in the ER. Four years ago it was strictly pt. care. Now we draw our own labs, ekgs, sometimes abg's. I especially like it because it speeds up the process in an atmosphere where we are always trying to move the pt. From an employee point of view It allows for more job security it you are able to work the whole dept. It was the same thing when I was in the Cath lab, just as Marilyn explained.
