Question 1. I believe there are three problems facing health care practitioners, they are government reimbursement, maintaining quality of care and keeping up with the chaning world of health care. As the government continues to decrease how much it pays for medical care, health care facilites must figure how to deliver quality care at reasonable costs. This isn't the easiest thing to do. That is why quality of care is an issue with me. I believe it is getting more and more difficult to provide the care that is expected and necessary in today's world. Finally, health care world is changing so rapidly that even the most knowledgable health care worker can not keep it. This causes confusion, mistrust and poor care. Question #2. For quite some time, I have heard about intersdisciplinary teams being the wave of the future and I believe it should be. But, to be quite honest, I haven't seen it in the format that I have heard. There is some attempt at it, but it seems to me to more of an attempt to placate JCAHO than to really operate in the mode. I know that it will be around for awhile, so I can't say it is just a fad. But, I don't think it will be what some have envision it to be. Question #3. The model that I operate in is the Hospital model. To be honest, this is the only model I know quite well. I have experience the managed health care model, the Long Term Care model, The Hospice Care model, and the Rural Health Care model. The one that I enjoyed the most and had the most autonomy was the Rural Health Care model.
