GROUND RULES FOR BULLETIN BOARD SESSIONS

1. All students are expected to participate in the bulletin board discussions on Thursday from 4-6 PM. If you are unable to participate in a session or plan to log-in late, please let the instructor know in advance of the session. (See #12)

2. If you are unable to access the course web-site, contact the instructor through e-mail. The instructor will serve as your liaison to the bulletin board. My e-mail address if jglacken@fgcu.edu .

3. If you are unable to log-on and access the Internet and are unable to e-mail, telephone the instructor about your problem. My office phone number is 590-7498.

4. When you submit a message to the bulletin board, only click "submit" once. If you double-click, your message gets sent twice.

5. Remember - you must click "reload" every few minutes to view new postings. Unread messages will be in blue print, while messages you have read will be in purple print.

6. When you first enter the bulletin board, please post a message that you are on-line. Your message must include your name (1st name only is okay), subject, and message, otherwise your message will not be sent. Once you have posted your message that you are on-line, please wait for the instructor to respond.

7. The instructor will post a question. Please respond to the question and submit. (Remember to RELOAD in order to see your message.) Do not worry too much about grammar and punctuation.

8. Read messages posted by other students. Ask questions if you are unclear about someone's response. This is your opportunity to discuss topics and issues with other classmates. Keep in mind this is an interdisciplinary group and you are here to learn about how others practice their profession as well as your own.

9. The instructor will be on-line to monitor the discussion, participating only when necessary, or asked to participate.

10. When you feel you have exhausted a topic, let the others know. When the whole group agrees the discussion can be terminated, the instructor will post a new question.

11. When all topics have been discussed, the instructor will suggest an end to the session. Student wills sign-off at this time. If students wish to continue their dialog, it is suggested they do so through e-mail. This will keep the bulletin board postings to a minimum and not fill the memory.

12. If you are unable to participate in a bulletin board session, you are expected to read the bulletin board postings at a later time and post comments for each topic.

13. All students should check the bulletin board every few days to view new postings.
