Directions

  • Complete the reading from John Dewey, then reflect upon your own education both formal (schooling) and non-formal (scouting, family, personal experience). Think about your education in light of reading John Dewey.  Be sure to reflect within your paper that you have read and understand some of Dewey's key concepts including (but not limited to) explaining such key concepts as:   (1) traditional education, (2) progressive education, (3) educative experiences, & (4) mis-educative experiences.   Thereafter, write a 3-5 page essay reflecting your understanding of how Dewey addresses the previously mentioned concepts and integrate these ideas into a narrative explaining:

-What has shaped your education?
-How have you learned about the environment?
